What’s your style?

Style is such an individual thing. It is the expression of your personality through your appearance.

For me personally, my wardrobe is an eclectic mix of everything! And I just love it!  Depending on how I feel really does depend on what I wear.

If someone asked me what my style was I’d say classic with an eclectic edge – I’d love to say I can pull of the natural look and perhaps some days I can, but it wouldn’t be without my mineral make up (love the natural look with a little bit of help).  For any semi-formal or cocktail events I’m pretty much always top to toe Carla. Her dresses last a lifetime and I splurge on one every year!

So back to styles, there tends to be several distinct groups these days:

Dramatic/Eclectic – A person dressing with a dramatic or eclectic style often wants to be different from everyone else. They wear individual pieces that makes them feel they are making a statement about who they are or how they feeling. They usually feature defined eye makeup to accentuate their features.

For an eclectic / dramatic look follow your heart and keep you eye out for pieces that grab your attention. Charlie Brown has done some great tulle and ruffle pieces, Sass and Bide also have some great dresses at the moment, Ksubi does very ksubi things, Camilla and even Cue have some edgy funky dresses and tops.

Elegant – Elegant dresses tend to fill the room with their presence when they enter. Their look is polished, clean; make up is relatively conservative and a neutral palette. If you want an elegant look try Anthea Crawford or Carla Zampatti.

Natural – A natural woman is able to throw on pretty much anything and look good. They wear minimal makeup, perhaps a hint of mascara or lippy. They tend to wear clothes they are comfortable in with simple and minimal jewelry. To achieve a natural look check out Bassike and plainer pieces in general.

Classic – The classic look is my favourite look. It never goes out of style! Any woman wanting a classic style first must start with a great basic wardrobe that can be built on year after year. The beauty of having a classic style is that you can stray to other styles whenever you want and know the trusty classic is waiting for you when you are ready to come back to it. Country Road, Sportscraft, David Lawrence and Mela Purdie are renown for their classic style. Depending on your age will also depend on where you look for classic pieces.

Confused – Most of my clients fit into this category (hence why I was born). There is absolutely nothing wrong with admiring how others dress yet not knowing where to buy and how to put outfits together.

Like I said earlier on, your style is your own individuality. Embrace it. Dress how you feel comfortable and make sure you feel great in whatever you wear!!! A wise mentor of mine once said: if you look good, you feel good, if you feel good, you will achieve great things!!! How true she was!!! And don’t forget to rotate your wardrobe!

If in doubt, give me a call, I am always happy to help out!
