Fashion for everyone!

Last week when I was at Robina, I decided to check out a few stores that I don’t normally visit – Autograph and City Chic. I had an inkling that these stores were for women with fuller figures, but really had no idea. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised that they had some really good pieces, not to mention their new swimwear range for women. So woman with fuller figures, the excuses of not being able to find anything stylish and funky are gone.  If you are a woman who is usually a size 14 – 30, go check them out. Autograph is usually a more casual attire and City Chic, 2 doors up, has more night-time attire for the ladies (s 14 – 28). I’m talking strapless dresses, sequin tops, even a couple of jumpsuits, jeans – and yes nice normal jeans, not all of had bling on them.

Obviously writing this blog, it’s no secret that I love everything FASHION, even though it certainly does have many interpretations. Lately, I’ve had a few people ask me the difference between Fashion and Style. As the icon of Style and Fashion Coco Chanel once said “Fashion Fades but style remains”, really sums it up. Fashion comes and goes, usually lasting about 3 – 6 months, whereas style… lasts a lifetime. I’m sure you’ve all heard the old 80/20 rule – 80% of your wardrobe should be stylish classic pieces that will last and last and 20% should be the latest fashion pieces to mix with those classic stylish pieces. It’s a great rule to think of when adding pieces to your wardrobe too. By all means run out and grab the latest must have’s (retail therapy is great (in moderation!) but don’t go overboard because that means you are continuously going to have to update your wardrobe every few months and let’s face it as much as we would all love to do that, it’s not really financially viable now is it?

Speaking of updating your wardrobes – as the sales start to wrap up, there is an abundance of new summer stock arriving – Zimmerman has caught my eye with their Bittersweet concertina T dress at AUD$ 275.00 – not cheap, but worth the $$. It’s a Grey marle t-dress with concertina printed silk front panel. Cotton/silk. Definitely a Dry clean only item. Check out Zimmerman at their concept store Marina Mirage, The Designer Forum @ Robina, David Jones and Adrenalin @ Southport or if you’re too busy to pop out most retailers are online this day… zimmermanstore.com or mycatwalk.com.au

As always happy shopping
